I have seen the ads on TV for I-594 where the retired police chief and now a couple of politicians tell us that if you get denied on the firearm purchase background check that you simply “go online” and purchase a gun with no questions asked, that is simply not true. When purchasing a firearm online you first must make arrangements with a Federally Licensed Firearm dealer, the gun will be shipped to them and they will do the background check on you before you can obtain the gun. Also, state taxes and fees are collected. For the pro I-594 folks to make such an untrue claim in their ads makes me wonder do they think the voting public is that ignorant or that we would approve the initiative based on emotion.
