On May 13, Mother’s Day, I drove to the Farmer’s Market to pick up an order of composted potting soil (10 bags). I double-parked, out of the lane of incoming traffic, which made my car very visible. A young man told me my car was leaking water and over-heating (the steam was just flying). My heart sank; who to call on such a day?
The young man said, “Well, let’s see what’s going on.” Proved to be a broken water hose, not as serious as the radiator. With a screwdriver and a box ripper, furnished by Tony, the proprietor of the market, the young man had it repaired in no time, while his little family stood patiently by. And Tony, loading my order, went for water for the radiator and hand-washing plus paper towels.
What would I have done without the cooperation of these two men? I thanked and tried to compensate the young man again and again – I did whittle out of him his name: Jeff Rose from Arlington.
Arlington can be proud of a husband, a father and a helpful citizen in their community. He also gave me instructions to wash off the cooled motor of the damaging anti-freeze.
At age 90, my heart swelled with appreciation for the two men, life-savers. I thank them again.
P.S. As the composted soil was by word of mouth, and I didn’t get the lady’s name, I want to thank her too, as she sent word there was no charge, a Mother’s Day gift. Thanks so much
