You are already aware that the YMCA of Snohomish County does things like provide swimming lessons and child care. You may even know it can provide a safe place for teens to hang out with friends or work on homework. The YMCA does all of these things and more for some 81,000 women, men, boys and girls.
During February’s YMCA Invest in Youth campaign nearly 400 of your friends, neighbors and business associates volunteered their time to tell the YMCA story to people throughout Snohomish County. This year’s campaign theme was “Building Positive Futures,” and that is exactly what the YMCA of Snohomish County does for people of all ages.
YMCA financial assistance and financial support for programs such as mentoring, child care, after school care, teens, youth obesity prevention and summer camp programs is made possible by the continued support and generosity of our community through donations to the annual Invest in Youth campaign.
This year’s campaign goal was an ambitious $1 million. It would be an aggressive goal under normal circumstances. However, the Y had an even greater challenge as it faced the economic downturn affecting our nation. Because of you, our caring community, the YMCA exceeded its goal raising a total of $1,006,024!
The Y’s mission stays strong no matter what uncertainty is facing our community. It provides child care so a parent can search for a job. It extends the membership when a parent has been laid off from their job. And it provides safe, healthy activities for kids of all ages. It can do this because of you.
Your gift to the YMCA’s Invest in Youth campaign is just that, an investment for the youth of today and adults of tomorrow. Our community proved to us once again that it supports the YMCA mission to build strong kids, strong families and strong communities. And for that, we thank you!
