Regarding Charles Krauthammer’s Aug. 24 column, “Rational voices finally rise on both sides of Iraq debate”:
Krauthammer’s argument starts logically enough. He takes both Republicans and Democrats to task for valuing nuance over reason in the Iraq debate.
Krauthammer concludes, however, that the U.S. should be “continuing the surge while finally trying to change the central government…” Why does this “rational choice” sound so familiar? Send in troops and enforce regime change? Isn’t that how we got suckered into this mess in the first place?
