Daughter thanks those who shared at service

The Herald has invited readers to write in about how John Taylor has affected their lives. I would like to take the opportunity to thank all of the past friends and colleagues of his who have shown myself, as well as the rest of John’s family, how much he meant to them. On Dec. 4 we had the funeral for John and the place (including the overflow room) was packed. There was a large representation of veterans as well as many uniformed Snohomish County Sheriffs Department workers and military personnel. Thank you.

Thank you also to all of John’s friends who showed up to send him off, as well as members of the family that I have not seen since before I can remember. Special thanks to Chaplain Dan Kellogg; we asked you for a specific style of service and you outdid yourself. It was profoundly moving. Thanks also to Everett Police Chief Jim Scharf and Snohomish County Sheriff Rick Bart. Both of you spoke so eloquently about your experiences working with my father and it was a delight to hear how candid you were in regard to what some of the frustrations were, as well as the great respect that you both held for John. In addition I would like to thank Danny Wikstrom for his insight into the sacrifice that is made when one chooses to give 110 percent to their passion.

I would like to say a special thanks to all of the people at Snohomish County Search and Rescue who put together a wonderful reception. Lastly, thank you to everyone I have forgotten to mention; I am sure you will forgive me as much of that time is a blur of names and faces.

Everett
