Dead people aren’t voting; people often have same name

One of the conspiracy theories put out by the Republicans that the election was corrupt is that many dead people voted. And I am assuming they have also concluded that they all voted Democrat miraculously.

Here is what I believe is what is causing the vote counters to irrationally think that dead people voted. What is happening is that in each county or state, just like The Herald does periodically, is print a list of names of people who have died in the last month or so. I am sure there is a master list of the deceased names and cities of residence.

Now listen carefully those of you who truly believe dead people are voting: If anyone has ever done a Facebook search for someone, they will get a list of many people with the same name as who they are looking for. There may be and probably are, many people in your own community who have the same name as you, no matter how unique you think your name is. So when these vote counters and those who verify signatures on ballots, they look at the name on the ballot and match it with the same name on a list of people who are deceased that they have been provided, they come to the conclusion that a dead person voted, not thinking or even wanting to believe that a live person with the same name of the deceased voted legally.

All of the conspiracy theories of the election are really getting ridiculous.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.), right, arrives to join Sen. Patty Murray (D-Wash.) and Sen. Brian Schatz (D-Hawaii) at a news conference on Capitol Hill after the House passed a stopgap bill to keep federal funding flowing past a Sept. 30 deadline on Friday, Sept. 19, 2025. The House narrowly passed the bill on Friday, but the measure appears dead on arrival in the Senate, where Democrats have vowed to block it. (Haiyun Jiang/The New York Times)
