Decisions are out of touch with others

What in the world is going on with our County Council? In reviewing its recent land use decisions it is certainly obvious that many folks don’t agree with its actions. Are council members out of touch with reality or what?

It is amazing to see that time and again their actions are appealed and overturned because they aren’t following the law. And it isn’t just a few folks that are involved, it’s far more than just the Central Puget Sound Hearings Board rejecting their actions. It is the governor calling for an appeal of their actions, it’s the Snohomish County executive vetoing their actions, it’s citizens in the county objecting, it’s the watchdog group 1000 Friends of Washington appealing. And recently it’s groups like Agriculture for Tomorrow, the Stillaguamish Flood Contol District, Pilchuck Audubon, the Snohomish County League of Women Voters and the Snohomish County Farm Bureau expressing their displeasure. Now we see that because of the council’s actions the county might not be eligible for some grants and loans from the state and additional sanctions may be possible. Money means jobs, and jobs are already in short supply in this struggling economy.

There must be a way to fix this problem and I think we know what it is.
