Delegation worked to ensure success

We’ve been reading a lot of articles about Everett’s receipt of the All-American City Award and the potential for increased visibility for Everett in terms of tourism and business development. It’s certainly a feather in our city’s cap to receive the AAC designation. But what the articles haven’t emphasized is the incredible amount of work and planning it took from many people to garner the award.

As someone with a background in marketing and event planning, I know that for a production such as this to appear so effortless, in reality there is an enormous amount of effort involved. It was a privilege to witness that effort first hand.

I was fortunate to be a member of the delegation that traveled to Kansas City to assist in the presentation, and I watched as a dedicated team of employees from the city, the parks department, police department and YMCA worked tirelessly to ensure Everett’s success in this endeavor. Countless hours were spent refining the presentation and coordinating the innumerable logistical details involved in taking the show on the road.

The tension and excitement were palpable as the 30 finalist cities collectively held their breath waiting to hear if they had won. You can’t imagine how exciting and emotional an experience it was! Although my role in the effort was miniscule, the impact it had on my civic pride was gigantic. My sincere gratitude to those who chose to include me, and hats off to the team that made it all happen.
