Despite change, history the same

Regarding King County’s change in logo, what comes next!? Since the man for whom King County was originally named has been eliminated from any connection with the county because he was a slaveholder, will the state of Washington follow suit? After all, George Washington was also a slaveholder!

Does anyone even remember why King County was named for William Rufus DeVane King in the first place? It would be nice if we could rewrite history by legislation, but history still remains history. The original records for the naming of the county will still read the same – that is what history is all about – it includes the good and the bad.
