The escalating controversy concerning presidential candidate John Kerry’s service record as a U.S. Navy Swift Boat commander in Vietnam is being questioned by some Vietnam veterans who are promoting adverse allegations against Mr. Kerry regarding his brief time there.
This controversy can be squelched immediately. The Democrat National Committee should advise Mr. Kerry to respond to the following:
1. Mr. Kerry should explain why his tour of duty in Vietnam was for only four months when most military personnel served for a year or more.
2. Mr. Kerry should disclose the length of his stay in hospitals in Vietnam or the U.S. as a result of his combat wounds.
The DNC should get this information out as soon as possible.
