Don Gough is choice for next mayor

A new mayor will be elected in Lynnwood on Nov. 6. Lynnwood has been my home for the past 26 years. I care about my city and I want to see the best candidate elected to this important position. My choice is Don Gough. As a city council member, he has gained my confidence over the years by consistently demonstrating good judgment and making considered decisions that have been beneficial for the city and the people who live here.

Mike McKinnon on the other hand has not demonstrated this ability. He vacillates on decisions and is reactive in council deliberations. For example, Mike’s campaign literature declares that he will “protect neighborhoods.” He did not protect my neighborhood. He voted not to rezone, then changed his vote to rezone property in our single-family neighborhood to allow the development of a 30-unit apartment complex. The result of this change of votes has now opened the neighborhood to future encroachment and fragmentation by developers. This type of action destroys the cohesiveness of a neighborhood.

Mike McKinnon may say he is in favor of protecting single family neighborhoods, and that he works effectively with the council, but to me his actions have proven otherwise.
