My suggestion for our traffic mess has nothing to do with money – we spend plenty already – but a change in lifestyles and attitude. What is so sacred about 9 to 5? I start my day at 3:30 a.m. and drive south from Everett to Seattle and guess what? There is never a backup. On my days off I wake up about 5 a.m. I enjoy sleeping in for a couple of hours. I am usually ready to do something by 6 a.m. Wouldn’t it be nice if businesses were open, besides the grocery stores? After all it is 9 a.m. on the East Coast. Yes, I go to bed a little earlier than most, usually by 8 p.m., but the tradeoff is getting off work by 1 p.m. and having the whole day to do things. Maybe more of us would adopt a similar routine if businesses were open to accommodate us. I spend absolutely no time on backed-up freeways and it is wonderful. I don’t understand how you can waste your time like that. Businesses, are you listening?
