Thank you for publishing the May 18 letter, reminding people not to leave animals in cars. How many more times do we have to remind people that this is a sure way of causing terrible suffering and, eventually, death? Why can’t people just think a little and imagine what a hot car feels like? This is awful.
Equally as bad is when people ride bicycles on busy streets dragging panting and suffering animals along with them. This is unsafe for the rider, the animal and other traffic around them. This is often seen near the border of King and Snohomish counties in the Ballinger area. The poor animals are dragged along, tongues hanging out too far and trying so hard to keep up with the bike. It is not only dangerous, it is downright cruel.
How can we teach people to just stop and think a little bit? Would he like someone to do that to him? I think not.
