Heartfelt thanks to our community leaders for inviting Julian Bond to commemorate the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday. I thoroughly enjoyed setting aside the time to remember, and for introspection.
Noticeably absent from Wednesday’s event was mention of Rev. King’s foundational Christian beliefs in his leadership for equality. Equality, as he so often said, “… for all of God’s children.”
These compelling beliefs permeated his speeches and activities — let’s not forget or we miss the heart and soul of his motivation for change.
