Dunshee’s causes are important ones

In reading a letter in the Jan. 30 paper, the writer was adamantly against the work of Rep. Hans Dunshee and a bill he’s working on. First, I’d like to state for the record that Rep. Dunshee is on the mark with his recent opinions. Not only on the campaign donations issue, but also on the need for a four-year satellite university in Snohomish County at the Everett Community College.

Rep. Dunshee isn’t about trying to eliminate business’ financial support for political candidates. He is about leveling the playing field. He is about you and me and the rest of our neighbors. Rep. Dunshee is about cleaning out politics, transparency and making our community a thriving community for today and tomorrows to come.

I’ve been to the “Town Hall” meetings in Lake Stevens for the last couple of years and Rep. Dunshee seems to be really the only one who has our (Snohomish County residents’) interests in mind and is doing something about it!

Which leaves me wondering, I don’t know what the point of the previous letter was. All political candidates receive financial support from a host of supporters. All Rep. Dunshee’s bill is concerned with is closing loopholes and gray areas that seem to be abused by others for personal gain.

Rep. Dunshee, I do care about that four-year satellite university! Thiscounty is in dire need of it to remain competitive for tomorrow’s family-wage jobs and I do care about transparent, consistent and fair campaign financial support guidelines.

Keep up the work, Rep. Dunshee. You’re on track!
