I wonder if other local municipalities are aware that the poor city of Edmonds is relying on all their neighbors’ generosity to provide shelter services for their city (“After long debate, Edmonds bans people from living outside,” The Herald, May 18).
According to Edmonds City Council member Susan Paine, and the Edmonds city council that unanimously agreed, “available” shelter is that which is within a 35-mile radius of Edmonds City Hall, which means these counties, and any/all incorporated municipalities within, will become the de facto shelter services providers for the poor city of Edmonds: Skagit, Pierce, Island, Kitsap, Pierce, King, Jefferson, Clallam and Mason. What is this? Is Edmonds going to have police escort their campers to the city or county line? Are they going to put them on a ferry to Kingston? Good luck with that!
