It is my belief that Americans are purposely kept too busy to pay attention to what’s really happening behind the scenes in this country. Work, sometimes a second job, (lower wages) kids, day care, commutes, chores and upkeep around the home and cars, pets, meals, soccer practice, doctor appointments, waiting in longer and longer lines; the list is endless.
Very few folks know who represents them, let alone take the time to read the voters pamphlet before casting their vote. Relying on name recognition or who has the most convincing advertising campaign has left us with career politicians who play the system and are largely ineffective. Yet they continue to be re-elected year after year.
I implore you to set aside some time that you don’t have to not only read the voters pamphlet, but dig a little deeper and research a candidate’s background. Their beliefs, goals and voting record are a great indication of how they’ll vote on issues that affect all of us.
Information is power. Educate yourself.
