Employees, volunteers great during difficult time

I would like to thank the many volunteers of Seattle Children’s Hospital for the outstanding service they provide for our community.

My youngest grandson was born on May 9, 2008. He was born with hypoplastic left heart syndrome. He spent most of the first eight months of his life at Children’s. As much of a trying time as this was for my daughter and her family, it was a wonderful experience for us all. Not only are the doctors and nurses and all the health-care providers wonderful and compassionate people, but the volunteer network from Children’s is exceptional.

During our Winter Blast of 2008, volunteers from Children’s Hospital made sure that Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus visited my daughter’s home on Christmas Day. Aside from horrific weather, these people gave up time from their own families and created a memorable experience for many other families with special needs children.

Not only did these people provide for the patient of Children’s Hospital, but also for all the siblings in the home. They made point to find out the ages and interests of other family members and provided them with gifts that were appropriate and much appreciated.

Anyone who has ever dealt with Children’s Hospital knows these are God’s Angels on Earth.
