The Electoral College, which ultimately decides our president and vice president, is an archaic process that should be dismantled. We now live in a high-tech era, utilizing very modern implements, equipment, fax, e-mail, rockets and the like. Some of our equipment must be utilized with great care and safety. Based on that premise, we are intellectually capable of electing a president and a vice president, without choosing people assembled at our state capital in December to actually elect the president and vice president. There have been times when a candidate has won the popular vote and lost the election by the votes of the Electoral College.
I watched for eight hours election night as the news media projected some of the states and with their actions were influencing voters.
Our Congress has failed to correct these problems. With the three-hour time difference east to west and millions of absentee ballots, it should be mandatory that no reporting be done by the broadcasters until all 50 states have closed their polling places.
