Your editorial board endorsement of President Obama for a second term is unconscionable.
Your reasoning is more in tune with what president Obama is to accomplish, rather than what he’s done — same as the 2008 mantra — hope and change. And what has he done … add $6 trillion to the national debt in 3½ years, impose a health-care system that had zero bipartisan support, ended a war (Iraq) that was already planned for our departure anyway, alienated many of our closest allies (Israel, Poland, etc.), become the most divisive president in history in terms of race/class-warfare/etc.; nothing to improve the job situation, increased poverty, added dependency of government programs such as food stamps/welfare/etc.
When is this president going to be held accountable for his current record from the left — which in terms of the economy and world affairs is abysmal?
And a Nobel Peace Prize for “extraordinary efforts to strengthen international cooperation…”? The NPP used to be awarded for actual deeds done, not hope of what someone “would do.” President Obama hasn’t even come close to what his “prize” projected.
I was also hopeful that Obama’s 2008 message/position/expectations would improve things and bring America together. What we have now is 180 degrees from that. The only thing he’s done right is the green light to take out Osama Bin Laden (and something he’s always ready to use for political gain), something that the true accolades should go to our military/intelligence folks — giving a green light to take out Bin Laden was a no-brainer for any president.
And supposed “transparency”? Like the current Libya incident involving Americans placed in harm’s way because the State Department did not provide adequate security after earlier requests for help? The latest is “we are going to find these terrorists responsible and get em…” How about: “It never should have happened in the first place!”
I do however align with your additional comment that “anticipatory greatness and in-practice greatness never aligned” of describing Obama. I feel this is very correct and sums up his presidency well. Of course, I imagine you made this statement to down-play his current abysmal record by alluding he’s not yet finished and just needs more time. This country can’t afford another term of Obama’s policies. We need a leader, not someone who makes us “feel good”!
