The traffic congestion in the city has spilled over into the neighborhoods. We are now experiencing excessive speeding in our residential areas.
I called the city traffic engineer and was told that city officials are planning to alleviate this problem, hopefully, by 2009. They are planning to add additional buses with pickups every 10 minutes. The buses will be able to control traffic lights. (By the way, I saw a bus today with approximately six riders.)
The other part of the solution is to build in the downtown corridor.
I’m wondering if this is the type of solution we can expect from our city officials.
Do they really think this is going to work? Or is it just wishin’ and hopin’?
