Everett Schools bond: Vote for strong schools, strong economy

When business owners and parents make decisions about where to work and live, one of the biggest deciding factors is the quality of the school district they are moving into. Most consumers and business owners know that strong schools contribute to a strong economy. It’s not just about the quality of the education our students are receiving, which is important. It’s also about the value the district brings to the community. A strong and well managed school district impacts growth, home values and attracts quality workers who further add to our community.

Strong schools are dependent upon a safe and healthy learning environment where students can succeed. The Everett School District has consistently demonstrated excellent fiscal stewardship of public resources and this plan is no exception. The bond package before voters is well balanced and focused on taking care of aging schools and building systems and does so within the existing tax rate. This can be only done through careful planning to sell new bonds as old debt is paid off.

To delay will only cost our community more down the road, and you can see this in examples of other districts. Failing to continue to invest in schools will have long-lasting impact beyond the students of today. Now is the time to act so please vote yes for schools, yes for Everett Public Schools.
