Regarding Everett Transit’s service to the waterfront, this is exactly what I told the Everett City Council about almost two years ago when I address them at a meeting and also gave them a letter written by me about the benefits of having Everett Transit (“Everett launches free evening bus rides to the waterfront,” The Herald, Aug. 3).
Having local control gives the city the ability to make routes like this without having to seek approval from another agency or board of directors. It also is a way to promote the city when tourism brings them to our city. They see Everett Transit buses and can have any other ads or promotional materials promoting whatever they may deem appropriate.
Seeing this being done makes me wonder if anyone on the city council or in city management realizes the asset that they have.
