Apparently Carol Key of the FAA has nothing better to do than threaten Snohomish County with frivolous lawsuits over the use of Paine Field. (Saturday article, “Feds warn Snohomish County to listen to airline.”) When it comes to looting our treasury, the Bush administration has been doing a heckuva job.
Carol should quit wasting hard-earned taxpayer money and hire more air traffic controllers, a shortage of which is a real crisis, everywhere in the country.
The dead-enders who continue with their crusade to get commercial flights have a right to petition and lobby. They may be hopelessly wrongheaded and unaware of the unintended consequences bringing in 24-hour cargo flights would have on the land values, increased pollution, and extra liabilites put on the county when the budget is extremely tight — they may not even care about such matters — but having the federal government bullying our local leaders is a complete waste of time and money.
