The task of paying property taxes has withdrawn a hard-earned sum of money from my household budget. I recently noticed a small area on the tax statement where one can enter a comment for the treasurer. Could this be true? We, the taxpayers of Snohomish County could really say something to our elected treasurer about our taxes? This was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that I could not pass up.
My taxes on my home have increased 415 percent, and on my other property they doubled in six years. Should I be angry or rebellious? I realized that our county government no longer understands what a dollar means to the citizens that feed a regulatory system whose No. 1 job is to grow itself, and punish us on a daily basis. My comment entered on the property tax statement was, “May God forgive you.”
