As a Whidbey Island resident, I find it very interesting that the elected officials find it easy to blame the ferry commuters for all of the
traffic woes in Mukilteo. Mukilteo City Council president Randy Lord’s quote in the July 6 Herald front page, “It’s like as soon as they
get off the ferry, it’s ‘Boom! Go!’” was interesting.
When the ferry arrives at the dock with 100-plus cars, not all get the chance to raceup the speedway! Realistically, the first few may get the chance, and law enforcement should be dealing with them, however, the rest of us get tangled in the traffic woes heading through town.
This is not any different that any other ferry dock town, including Clinton. I have witnessed, while waiting in line, many, many cars, trucks and transit bus commuters travel this road and all do not get on the ferry. Who are they? It is easy to point fingers, however one should always remember, to point a finger at someone else for the problem, there are three of your own fingers pointing back at you.
