Deja Vu in Everett is being violated by Everett City Council members and by the proposed ordinance as well as the state’s code (News article, Nov. 12 “Deja Vu lawyer objects to city’s proposed cabaret laws”). I think the managers should not be arrested for what a dancer does and furthermore dancers should be able to do what they want to do – it’s their body.
I find it very offensive that I, a member of this city, cannot go into the Everett Deja Vu and see what I want to see and not be censored. We must stand up for what we believe in and make our voices heard.
We need people like Deja Vu attorney Jack Burns, who are for freedom of speech guaranteed under our First Amendment. We, the community, need to rally to make this state an uncensored state. I think the court should throw out the active state code. If we do not try to change the way they censor things in the USA, we will soon not be able to read, see or hear anything we want. By then the government will have taken away our freedom of speech. So every time there is a trial where our First Amendment right are challenged, we should picket to show that we care when our rights are taken away.
