Follow chosen path with head held high

First, I would like to thank the multitude of people that grieved for Deputy Richard Herzog. That includes the daughter of the accused. Her skin may be a little darker than the slain officer, but her tears and emotion were real. She is one of the special people.

Members of law enforcement have been under a microscope by special interest individuals and groups for decades and unfortunately the pulpit fist-pounding and unlawful gatherings will continue under the guise of racial motivation.

There is no room for self-pity. Every person wearing a badge does so voluntarily. You will be criticized, censured, and second-guessed. Follow the path you have chosen with head held high, and do your job with professional ethics. Do not become a member of a special interest group.

Law enforcement will investigate, the prosecutor will try the case, a jury will render a verdict and a judge will sentence the accused. The entire process will be without consideration of race, religion, sex, age and personal beliefs.

Every member of law enforcement will feel the pain of losing one of their brothers, but then again, aren’t we all brothers?
