I rather got a kick out of reading Steven M. Lay’s May 7 letter to the editor on the $4,000 taxpayer price tag regarding the cost of two swimsuit spinner dryers. I had no idea that they cost that much, but yes, it appears they range in price from approximately $1,500 to $2,000.
Is this a good investment for the public? I have to give that a “yes” answer. Mr. Lay did not say in his letter if uses the Forest Park Pool but I assure you I do.
As a Victorian-sized senior citizen female I am absolutely ecstatic about the availability of these wonderful spinning/drying devices! I wear a skirted bathing suit with foam type cups in the breast area for support (Am I allowed to say that in a family newspaper?). After swimming, and showering my suit is one drippy mess. Trying to squeeze out the excess water is a nightmare! With the spinner in 10 seconds — voila — stress-free dry swimming attire!
I can understand Mr. Lay’s point of view since men’s swimming attire consist of either Speedos, which can be squeezed out in a heartbeat or boxer type apparel which can easily be squeezed out as well. No need for expensive operating equipment!
But from my point of view I disagree, as I see the spinner/dryer as needed equipment to ensure a drip-free, hassle free environment!
