Campaign literature for Ron Gipson calls him an “effective councilmember.” You would think that to be effective, you’d have to show up for work. As of Oct. 5, 2011, the most recent meeting with published minutes on Everett’s website, Ron Gipson had attended only 27 of the 40 city council meetings in 2011 — an absentee rate of nearly one meeting of every three.
City Council salary works out to over $500 per meeting. Ron Gipson is collecting full pay but only doing two-thirds of the work, and I sure don’t know anyone else who gets that deal. So congratulations, Everett taxpayers — you’re a really easy boss.
