Give ISC a reason to look elsewhere

How can we keep the NASCAR track out of our county? The answer was in The Herald on Oct. 7 in the article, “Public’s NASCAR cost could hit $200 million.”

When asked if the ISC is “in it for the long haul” (if opponents file lawsuits and tie it up in the courts), Senior Vice President Lee Combs replied that his company is beholden to its shareholders and can’t wait forever.

In that case, opponents of the racetrack need to secure an attorney and file as many lawsuits as possible. Property owners who will be adversely affected need to file lawsuits. Ultimately, the ISC would have to look elsewhere for a site.

The Snohomish County Citizens Against a Racetrack (SCAR) needs to advertise its organization (address, phone number, e-mail address) if it truly is interested in gathering a large number of supporters. Only then can the public implement an organized and effective opposition to NASCAR’s irreversible damage to our community.
