Golf courses eat up way more land

I have grown up here in the Northwest, racing and riding off-road as well. And on several tracks that are long gone, from Startup Raceway to Puyallup raceway and Seattle International Raceway, as well as the Coal Piles in Cle Elum.

In the late ’70s and early ’80s we were able to ride darn near anywhere. Since then, 30 or more golf courses have been shoved in anywhere they like, with most courses allowing alcohol. At the Legion Memorial course they have a golf cart going around selling it to the fine golfers.

I think the anger from those protesting is because it is not shared. Gary Strode should let the hikers on it, they would pack it nicely with their REI boots, saving him time from dozing. Oh, and they won’t need to pack it out for there will be garbage cans on site for their granola wrappers.
