Greed factor takes over programming

I find it interesting to watch our television networks sell us out each Sunday morning. It’s interesting to see what they feel is most important for our well-being and what they use as filler until those rating producers (i.e. sports) begin.

CBS believes “paid programming” from 9 to 10 a.m. and again from 3 to 3:30 p.m. is in our best interest and that “Face the Nation” is just frivolous entertainment. This national news program lasts only 30 minutes and could easily be squeezed into a more viewer-friendly time slot. I guess the network feels that if we really want to know what our nation’s leaders think about the current state of affairs, we should tune in at 12:30 a.m. Monday morning. Who cares if we are at the brink of war and our economy is in a downward spiral?

CBS isn’t the only misguided network – ABC isn’t much better. “This Week with George Stephanopoulos” (another program that introduces viewers to our nation’s policies and policy makers) is another program that gets moved around to make room for paid programming or sporting events.

Sunday’s viewing can include all forms of enlightenment. These networks should just use some intellect in scheduling and not just the greed factor.
