Happy son is now hooked on fishing

My son turned 6 years old on May 11. He had a party and received lots of presents, but the best present he received by far that day was going to the Silver Lake Fishing Derby with his friends Becca and Danielle and catching his very first fish.

The look on his face was priceless and the excitement in his voice as he reeled in his catch were experiences which will stay with me for a lifetime. I want to extend my thanks to the people, organizations and local merchants who sponsored this function. It was a festive atmosphere with hot dogs and home-brewed root beer from the Flying Pig Brewery. There were people helping the kids bait their hooks and cast their lines. Zebco supplied the fishing poles, which came complete with sinkers, bobbers and hooks.

Each child got to keep their fishing pole and accessories. There was an announcer cheering the kids on as they reeled their prized catch into shore. Last, but not least, there were volunteers at a cleaning station who cleaned and bagged the fish for the kids to take home. Needless to say my son is now “hooked” on fishing and with all the other things kids can get hooked on these days, fishing is a great choice. Again, I would like to extend my thanks for this wonderful event. It is one my son and I will remember for years to come.
