I find it hard to understand Al Gore’s views for a concise energy policy. He claims in his book, “Earth in the Balance” that the internal combustion engine is the biggest threat to the environment. When he or his staff is questioned about how we should replace gasoline powered cars, they mention electric cars. On the surface, this sounds great, but where does Al Gore and his staff think electricity comes from?
When they are asked whether we should build more nuclear or coal power plants, the answer is emphatic, “No.” Well, how about our hydroelectric dams? They will tell you that these dams need to be removed. Last summer the West Coast suffered brownouts due to the lack of electric power plants. Maybe if we go without heating and air conditioning in our offices and homes, we will have enough electricity to recharge our cars. If we do not get a clear and concise energy policy for this country, all growth will come to a halt and the economy will collapse.
