This letter is concerning the mayor of Gold Bar, Colleen Hawkins, and the article that was printed on June 18, “Recall attempted against Gold Bar mayor.”
I am a resident in the city of Gold Bar, and I have been for the past 12 years. My name is Allison Turner and I am 15 years old. Even though I am not old enough to vote, or considered an adult, I do believe that my opinion should be heard too.
I have volunteered in City Hall for the past three years. Since Colleen was elected, I have noticed some major changes in our town. However, these changes have really helped our city. From what I have experienced, Colleen is the best person for the job.
Not only do I know her through City Hall, I know her as a family friend. That gives me reason to say she is the best. Colleen is very studious, and willing to do anything to help our city. If I had been old enough to vote, she would have had mine.
I have been watching what has been happening to Colleen while she has been the mayor, and I do not agree with it. On June 18 there was a meeting about her recall. However, the person who called for it was not even there. I do not agree with how she is being ganged up on when no one has any proof of anything that has gone on. I do not believe that Colleen should have to go through this and I do not agree with the fact that she has people trying to recall her. There is no one who is better for this job.
