I shouldn’t be surprised, but I am. On Tuesday, The Herald recommended that its readers vote no on Initiative 892 (authorizing non-tribal gambling machines to lower property taxes). The very next day, the paper carried a special advertising section: a guide to gambling and entertainment. Most of the casinos advertised in the 12-page pull-out section are tribal establishments, which stood to gain if Initiative 892 were rejected. This has the appearance of impropriety. I guess The Herald is just another publication that should be taken with a grain of salt.
