As a lifelong Everett resident, third generation Seagull and current City of Everett employee, it’s very disappointing to see our local newspaper’s staff being slashed.
In my role as the city’s public information officer and acting communications director, I frequently work with The Herald staff members, including some that are being laid off. I can say, without a doubt, reducing the newsroom staff is going to impact the community’s access to local news and information.
The challenges facing our community today and the topics that people want and need to understand are so complex, I struggle to see how that can be done adequately with even fewer resources.
