Who is being the bully in the recent article about a dispute over a logo design (“Arlington Hardware cashed in on stolen design, local artist says,” The Herald, Jan. 9)?
This biased article sounds as if The Herald is! This has been a hardship the Jones family that owns the hardware story.
Yes, this family is conservative. They are also very patriotic. On Memorial Day, they display the American flag from his grandfather’s death in WWII. They strive for representation of their conservative views at times. If they were also using environmental designs, they were trying to reach a wide range of customers.
During the Oso slide, Tyler Jones went into the hardware store and promptly handed equipment to rescuers off his shelves. No accounting, simply doing whatever he could in the emergency. These are not folks who “cash in” as implied by the article. As soon as the family realized that they may have used a design improperly, they removed it.
Knowing what I do of this family and their contributions to the Arlington community, I find it hard to read them being portrayed as “bullies.” By the way, I am not a conservative. Tyler and Ace Hardware are wise to turn this over to the lawyers. The Herald should have considered doing so.
