He’s implemented sound practices

I am a Democrat voting for Doug Sutherland for commissioner of public lands. Peter Goldmark’s ads condemning Sutherland for flood damage to timberlands are unmerited. There were more timberland landslides during last winter’s storm where there were significant trees growing than in clear-cut areas. Are we to criticize God for growing trees where landslides occurred? Should we condemn transportation planners for building I-5 in an area where the storm could wash it out? What about the farmers who put livestock at risk by farming in the flood plain? Is that the fault of the Department of Agriculture?

Doug Sutherland is an excellent manager who has implemented sound, science-based, sustainable practices in oversight of our public lands.
