There have numerous articles in the paper lately about the need to control the operation of motorized scooters, and a few readers have written their opinions on them. I just have one question: When are the bicycle safety laws going to be enforced?
On any given day in any section of our fair city I see children, obviously under 18, riding bicycles without the required helmets. I also see adult riders pedaling through our streets after dark without helmets or lights. Many don’t even have reflectors! Please don’t tell me the police don’t see them or it would be enforced. If I see them, then obviously the police should also.
If the safety of drivers and the operators of the scooters are the issue, when will the safety of people on bikes become one?
