Recently The Herald editors have been gnashing their teeth about their inability to maintain a staff of reporters and publish a decent paper.
Let’s look at some basic belt-tightening cost-saving moves.
You have a cadre of local and national “attack dog” political columnists that take up several pages of your paper every day.
Sever your contracts with these people. Their message of “Get Trump” has remained unchanged in eight years.
If you must keep one, and only one, of these writers use the Readers Digest technique of consolidating 10,000 words to 500 or less.
Your reporters that write about junk like Whidbey wine making or Jim and Joan’s beautiful backyard should be let go or reassigned to real news.
Start reporting, on a regular basis, on the goings on in our local courts. Provide the scores and standings for the Seattle and Everett professional sports teams.
There now, that does not sound too difficult. it just takes a management decision to choose unbiased news over Progressive hogwash.
