Impact on airport would be terrible

Some people may not be aware Arlington, Marysville and Snohomish County are proposing three sites for a new NASCAR raceway that are right up against the Arlington Airport. These proposed racetrack sites would have a devastating effect on our Arlington Airport. It would place an automatic and mandatory temporary flight restricted area on and around the airport during any events (this could be more than 200 days a year). This TFR would not allow any takeoffs, landings or instrument procedures below 3,000 feet.

Arlington Airport remains a vital resource to our communities. The Arlington Airport contributes jobs and millions in economic benefits each year. The aviation tradition is rich and deep. Arlington holds the third largest aviation event in the country every summer. Let your opinions be known before it’s too late. Write, e-mail or call local politicians or attend the city and county council meetings. This is not an anti-NASCAR sentiment. It is a “don’t kill our airport” sentiment.
