Innocent tradition rich with meaning

Everett High School has always been a school rich with tradition. If you are a graduate of Everett High one you might remember is “the running through the halls.” This takes place on the last day of your senior year. Fifteen minutes before life as you know it comes to an end, you meet with your fellow seniors and proceed to run through the halls yelling to celebrate the end of your amazing journey.

This is not just a celebration, but a message to the underclassmen “we’ve made it, and you will too.”

Unfortunately, after almost 16 years, the graduating class of 2006 was denied this right of passage. They were informed that anyone participating in this innocent act would not be able to walk on graduation day. The reason given to the students was that is was too much of a liability. So far no one has ever been injured or anything damaged during the running of the halls.

These are good kids. For four years they have worked hard and followed the rules. This very well may be the last time they travel the halls of their high school. On last chance to say goodbye. It is something so small, but to the students it means so much.
