Mr. Pat Jack, in writing about the Affordable Care Act, is mistaken in his views. (“Limit procedures that are covered.”) The federal government doesn’t pay for any medical procedures. Those with ACA policies know that their medical procedures are paid by an insurance company. The only procedures paid for by the government are for the elderly on Medicare and the very poor by Medicaid. There are some subsidies for the working poor but the government does not pay for any medical procedures through policies acquired through the ACA. They are paid for by your insurance carrier.
As to what they cover, some insurance companies offer policies that cover more things than other policies, you would just pay more. The government does run the insurance exchanges; both at the state level and the federal level, but the policies purchased are run by insurance companies.
