I realize first responders have a lot of serious stuff to deal with on holidays in addition to the chaos happening every day. I appreciate them very much.
However in south county there is a location on Russell Road between Highway 99 and Mukilteo Speedway that has been a hot spot for the past 15 or so years. Thus I was happy when the this area’s fireworks ban was announced a couple of years ago.
However will there ever be any enforcement of the ban?
The noise and smoke continue. And I would direct any passing official from the sheriff’s department or fire chief in the area to the location for a timely educational visit.
Over five hours of fireworks, seemingly at one spot, rivaled commercial shows, and so much smoke we had to shut windows from 10 p.m. on. (Which made for toasty non-sleep night.)
Plus there is a (currently dry) greenbelt right behind them.
So what options do the rest of the desperate neighborhoods have?
I’ve lived here 29 years and am not planning to move.
