I am a resident of and registered voter in Washington state. I am currently attending college in Michigan. I requested that an absentee ballot be sent to my residence in Washington so that it could be forwarded to me by my parents. The absentee ballot was never received at my residence. I tried to vote by provisional ballot on election day in Michigan but was told that I could not.
The government is trying to get more eligible voters to vote, but it seems like it is not possible for a college student wishing to retain his/her residence in his home state to vote. This seems counterproductive. Shouldn’t a college student wishing to keep his/her residence in their home state be able to vote if their absentee ballot is not received?
