I cannot believe Snohomish County Executive Aaron Reardon is trying to sell us on the idea of a NASCAR track. I am most certain that the only thing it will benefit is his political career.
Being a current resident of Arlington and a former resident of Florida I have a few things to share on the subject of NASCAR.
The residents of Arlington are in need of more businesses and more shopping, not more noise and more pollution.
Shops and small businesses will be much better for our community than a racetrack. They’ll also create more jobs, even though Mr. Reardon seems to think only NASCAR can do this for our small community.
Besides noise, the only things NASCAR has to offer is traffic jams, drunk drivers, trash and littering in our streets, undesirable people and crime.
Before he starts boasting how NASCAR can help our community he should first travel to Daytona and Talladega, view the areas surrounding the NASCAR tracks, and then decide what would be best for us. He will see that they are not very desirable areas and no one lives near them.
