Janice Ellis, a strong victim’s advocate

I have never met Snohomish County Prosecuting Attorney James Krider. I didn’t meet Chief Administrator Doug McNall until a year ago. That may not seem strange since most people in the county have never met them, but I have been a victim advocate in the prosecutor’s office for 12 years, almost 8 of those years with the present administration.

If I were the only victim advocate who had never met Mr. Krider, I could assume it was an oversight. However, most of the victim advocates have never met him. As far as I know, Mr. Krider has never met with a victim of a violent crime. Fortunately, all the victim advocates are dedicated to providing victim services to victims and their families. The deputy prosecutors with whom I work are also concerned for victims. I am writing this letter because I feel so strongly that there must be a change of leadership in this office.

The victims of violent crimes deserve this change, as well as the victim advocates who serve them. Janice Ellis is a former deputy prosecuting attorney. I worked with her in the Special Assault Unit where she prosecuted those who molested and raped children. I was impressed with her sensitivity and concern for victims, and her aggressive prosecution of those who hurt children. Mr. Krider has never prosecuted anyone. Please consider this when you go to the polls.
