I don’t know anyone who loves their health care coverage, but for those who do, it is good to know that health care reform will allow them to keep it. I thought I had a good plan. I had to change doctors for it, but they all agreed a specific surgery (which was included in my policy) should be very beneficial to me. Without notice, the surgery was taken out of my company’s policy. This cost me $30,000. The doctors were right. I no longer need the expensive medications and injections. My insurance company was relieved of those burdens.
Insurance companies and CEOs should not be making health-care decisions for Americans. I was fortunate that I was able to finance my surgery. Today I doubt I could. Many Americans cannot. We have to worry about aging and what might be interpreted as pre-existing conditions. The many, variable formulas are confusing, making it even harder on patients and their doctors.
It is a shame that health care costs are driving up the price of American products while unfairly treating small business. We desperately need a unique, American solution. I am praying for health-care reform now.
